It seems like social gaming is becoming a thing of the past. To give you an example, there use to be five LAN shops around Utah. Now there is one. It's called The Gamerz Funk, and it's an incredible shop. You can go there, and pay very few dollars to play one, or many of the games contained in their library (Trust me... They have all the big titles, and on over 20 PC's, and 4 Xbox 360's) on their blazing fast internet, or LAN. I've mentioned in several articles that I am a huge Halo fan. I use to throw a Halo LAN party once a month, and before that, almost every weekend. Ever since Xbox Live, and the PSN surfaced in the console world, social gaming is dying. I love to hop online and play a few games of my favorite shooter, but there is just something so much better about getting together with a group of people and having some friendly competition.
Here at Gaming Cuisine, it is our dream to bring the competition to Utah. Our goal is to create a competitive gaming league in which people can enter, play games against other people, and win some incredible prizes. We haven't really publicly announced that this is our goal, and so I thought this would be an excellent opportunity to do so, as we just recently partnered up with The Gamerz Funk to throw some pretty epic tournaments in the coming months.
I would like to officially announce that our first tournament with TGF will be held on September 15, 2012. The time has yet to be determined, but it's looking like it's going to be near the 7PM hour. We will be playing Gears of War 3, and it will be a two versus two deathmatch setting. With details of the time not concrete, please check our Cook Off's page frequently for the final time. We have a poll on our Facebook page as to what time you, the gamer, would prefer to play. One final note regarding this tournament is that it will cost $5.00 upon signing up prior to the 15th, and $7.00 at the door the day of the tournament. There will be cash prizes for the winning team. How do you sign up? Just head over to TGF located at: 5486 S 1900 W STE-DTaylorsville, Utah 84123, and they can help you with the rest! Or show up an hour before the tournament starts to throw down your $7.00.
Soon to come are details on a League of Legends tournament at the end of September, and Star Craft 2 tournament in the coming months. Again, please check back on the Cook Off's page frequently for updates.
We can't stress enough how much we want to create an incredible opportunity for all of you gamers out there to compete in a league. We provide a stress free environment, even if you aren't good at the game. The best part about social gaming is that there are people who are very good at particular games, and if you want to learn how it's done, you can come learn from the best!
We have a big dream, and it can only become a reality if we have your help. With out you, this won't work. You have gotten us this far just by reading our articles! Keep the fire lit by entering or attending our tournaments! Help us create the Gaming Cuisine Competitive League (GCCL). As usual, if you have any suggestions, please e-mail us at gamingcuisine@gmail.com.
Until next time, keep on gamin' on!
