Halo 4 Tournament Announcement, & Forge Competition!!!

As many of you know, we haven't had a tournament for a while. Mainly it's been because of the holiday's the past few months, but also because things have been very busy for us at Gaming Cuisine. Many things are being discussed and implemented into our site, including tournaments that we are extremely excited about. And now, for the announcement.

We will be keeping track of stats, and posting them on our GCCL Stats page for everyone to see! We've also changed the name of the "Cook Off's" Page, to the GCCL Tournament Schedule. Initially I had mentioned that we were hoping to throw our next Halo 4 tournament on February 2, 2013. This is no longer the case. Due to some changes in how we will be throwing tournaments, we are pushing that date back so that we have more time to throw this tournament properly, and here's why:

We have said that we want Gaming Cuisine to be a competitive league for video gaming, and so starting with our next Halo 4 tournament we will be keeping track of every player's stats, of every game that is played, and then posting those results on a tournament to tournament basis. After our first set of tournaments, we will be hosting an online tournament with the competitor's the night before to determine the seeding for the actual tournament, which will be held the next day. This will create a much more efficient and fair way of competing in our league. We want this to be successful, gamers, and we want this to be the number one competitive gaming league in Utah, but we need your help to accomplish this! Please help us out by competing in our tournaments, and spreading the word to everyone. For those of you who are in Utah, or outside of Utah, or even outside of the USA, we will be holding online tournaments as well! Now that we have a better understanding of how to do this, it's going to happen!

Call of Duty: Black Ops II is a huge success, and a major part of competitive gaming today, so you can expect to see many more of those tournaments in the future. This year we will be hosting a midnight launch for Gears of War: Judgement. Gaming Cuisine, and The Gamerz Funk will be hosting a Gears of War 3 Tournament in celebration, and maybe we will get special permission to play Judgement a couple of hours before it comes out! (Playing the game early is not a promise, at this point!) Also in the mix, obviously, is Halo 4. I've heard many people say that Halo is dead in the competitive world. We are here to tell you that you heard wrong, because Gaming Cuisine is going to be focusing very heavily on Halo 4. PC Gamers, do you feel left out? Have no fear! We will be hosting several League of Legends, Star Craft II, and other PC Tournaments this year. The Gamerz Funk has been kind enough to allow us to use their awesome Gaming Cafe, and has plenty of PC's to accommodate these tournaments. We have received several requests for a Counter Strike Tournament, so we'll throw one, and see how many people turn up for it! If there is a game you'd like us to throw a tournament for, shoot us an e-mail at gamingcuisine@gmail.com!

Halo 4: 2v2 Forge Competition

For our next Halo 4 tournament, I'd like to announce our first official Halo 4 - 2v2 Forge Competition. We want Gaming Cuisine to be unique from any league in the world, and as such we'd like to give you the possibility of your map being featured in our tournaments! Please know that our next tournament for Halo 4 will either be February 16, 2013, or March 2, 2013 (The date will be solid as soon as some minor details are worked out in the next week. Please bear with us!) Here are the details on the competition:

Be as creative as possible, while keeping in mind the flow of gameplay for a 2v2 setting for Slayer, Oddball, and King Of The Hill. Please only one entry per person (Don't worry! We'll have more competitions in the future so feel free to create more maps, and submit them as you've completed them!) Please make use of one of Halo 4's maps specific to forging (Ravine, Erosion, or Impact). If you don't think you can, or want to create a map that has the capability of all of these game types, then design it around one or a couple of the game types listed above. If you choose to do this, please make sure you include what game type(s) the map is designed for. Submissions are due no later than February 15, 2013 at 12:00 PM (Mountain Standard Time), or March 1, 2013 at 12:00 PM (MST). As stated above, the final date will be revealed in the next week, due to careful planning that is taking place at this time. What's your prize if you win? If your map is picked, then it'll be selected as an official Gaming Cuisine Competitive League map, and will be competed on in our local tournaments in Utah, as well as in our Online tournaments!

Send us an e-mail using the format below, at gamingcuisine@gmail.com.

Map Name: [Insert map name as it appears on the fileshare]

Gamertag: [Gamertag of the Fileshare that the map file resides on]

Recommended Players: [Range of players that should play the map]

Recommended Gametypes: [Games that should be played on your map]

Pictures: [ONE or TWO pictures of your map. No more or no less please.]

Once we have received the submissions, we will play test them that day, and then narrow our results even further by competing on them the next day in our local tournament. Please understand that by submitting your map to us, you are giving us, Gaming Cuisine, and it's competitor's, permission to compete in our league, on your map. Once you submit your map to us, you give us the right to use it in all of our tournaments as we so desire. In no way will us at Gaming Cuisine tamper, edit, re-design, or add anything to your map without your full consent. If we feel that something needs to be changed you will be contacted personally, and we will have you make the fix, because we know that you are the creator of its beauty, and deserve to make the fixes, as you know the map better than anyone. If you are competing in the tournament with your map, and we feel that you've created something on the map that will benefit you, and your teammate that only you two know about, then you forfeit your submission, and the both of you will be terminated from that particular tournament. Please make this fair for everyone!

Any questions? Shoot us an e-mail at gamingcuisin@gmail.com.

Halo 4 2v2 Tournament

The Halo 4 2v2 tournament will take place on February 16, 2013, or March 2, 2013 at 7:00 PM Mountain Standard Time (The official date and time to be announced further in the week ahead). The style of bracket will be pool play to begin with, so that each team has the chance to play one another at least once. When pool play is over, we will create a single elimination bracket from those results. The top two teams with the highest win ratio will be placed at the top, and bottom of the bracket. The third and fourth best teams will be placed in the middle of the bracket, etc, etc.. This will make it so the two best teams don't play, and eliminate one or the other from the get go, and will result in a higher quality tournament. We also feel that this style of gameplay will make it more fair for everyone!

At this time the following stats will be written down by us, Gaming Cuisine, and posted on our site for everyone to see: Kills, Deaths, and Assists. If you feel that another stat should be added, e-mail us at gamingcuisine@gmail.com with your recommendation, and we will take it in to serious consideration. There must be a team captain for each team, so that communication with Gaming Cuisine and The Gamerz Funk can be more effective. You may bring your own controller, and if you so choose, you may bring your own headsets. Xbox's and T.V.'s will be provided, as per usual. If there is any cheating behavior seen by us, in any way that is unfair to any team competing, you and your teammate forfeit your entrance fee, and must leave the tournament. Let's keep it fair, and enjoyable for everyone!

If you feel that we missed something, please e-mail us with your requests! Thanks for being patient. we expect this year to be incredible!

-Until next time, keep on gamin' on!
