Salt Fest 2014 Tournament: Final Games Decision

With Salt Fest peeking it's head around the corner, and having several voting sessions, we have come to a conclusion for this years Salt Fest Tournament. Please note that this is the plan for this year.
The company that provided over 50 Xbox 360 set-ups for last year's Salt Fest is sadly, going out of business. With us being a new company, we don't have access to as many set-ups as we'd like. With this in mind, and based on the votes to get rid of Halo: Reach, and Call of Duty: Ghosts, we will only be holding a Halo 4 tournament this year. We want to provide the best possible competitive environment for you guys, so we thought it made sense to focus on one game, with much few set-ups than last year.

We will be running with the latest Halo 4 MLG settings, so please practice accordingly. We will announce which maps in the coming days. You can preregister online on Salt Fest's website, or the day of the tournament. If you wait until the day of the tournament (May 17, 2014), then you will have to pay more for the Salt Fest Day/Weekend pass than you would if you preregistered online now. The price of the tournament it's self will not go up at this point, so that part should stay the same come May 17, 2014.

I don't want this to seem like this year's Salt Fest is going to suck. It's just we'll have access to fewer set-ups than last year. We have bigger plans for next year, because we plan on hosting quarterly tournaments after this year's Salt Fest. The top number of teams picked from those quarterly tournaments will be qualified for Salt Fest 2015.

We want Salt Fest to become the GCCL's venue for our yearly finals, and Championship game. We want to provide an epic trophy that can only be won once a year that will have the champions names engraved upon it. We want to be able to give out lots of cash to the champions. This takes a lot of planning, and contact with companies that are willing to donate to this prize pool.

In short, this is the plan for Salt Fest 2015, while Salt Fest 2014 will be our second Halo 4 tournament, and finals. We have a lot of big companies coming to Salt Fest 2014, and several vendor's will be selling some sweet video game/media related garb. This year the finals for Halo 4 will be located on the main stage where the final teams can be viewed destroying each other on a giant screen. This year all panels will be held in the ball room away from all of the other tournaments. This year, the GCCL will be located in a much better position on the convention floor. This year we will be streaming our tournaments and finals through Twitch TV. It can only get better in the coming years, and we really appreciate all of your continued support.

If you stay with us, I can promise a brighter future for Utah's competitive gaming scene. Who knows, maybe in the future the GCCL will be sponsoring you through the MLG. Anything is possible with your continued support. Spread the word, because the GCCL is going to take Utah by storm.

For any questions about getting refunded for preregistering for Call of Duty (yes, you will be fully refunded), please send an e-mail to info@saltfest.org

Until next time, keep on gamin' on!
