Welcome to the temporary home of The Hive Gaming League!! Everything is pretty much the same as when we were Gaming Cuisine, but now the site has changed from gaming-cuisine.blogspot.com to hivegl.blogspot.com.
We will post everything here until we have the website completed, so be sure to keep checking back for updates.
After a very long meeting, we finalized a lot of what we want the league to become. To start off, we wanted to create seasons for teams to sign up for, and compete against each other for a 3 month period. At the end of each online season, we will hold a LAN championship series based off of the seed of each team from the online season.
Our projected date to start this will be August 1, 2014. This date is only valid if we are 100% certain that we have all avenues ready to begin the HGL's first season. We have quite a bit of work ahead of us, but we are confidant that you will be pleased with our new league!
As announced on Twitter, Season 1 will be Call of Duty: Ghosts - 2v2. What you can expect is that there will be a league entry fee for each season. If you register as a team, it will only cost $25.00 per team (or 12.50 a person). If you register as a free agent, meaning you don't have a teammate, it will cost $15.00 per person. We will be creating a "Free Agent List" where people can find a teammate. If there is an odd man out by the deadline for registration, that person will either be refunded, or may be apart of the league as a substitute for the remainder of the season. If that player is able to find a teammate during the season and would like to create a new team, that new team may compete in the middle of the season, but will have a lower seed based on the number of wins compared to those who have been competing on the league since day one.
We have a specific list league rules that I will post later this week, but I thought I'd give you all an idea of what to expect for the time being. We will use MLG/Gamebattles rules for all of our tournaments, but the way the seasons will be ran is a little different.
Registration will open as soon as we have the account to accept registration fee's.
The way a season will run is by having each team compete against each other in a bracket ran by the HGL. Each team will compete in two series a week, and it will be the teams responsibility to schedule when to compete against the assigned opposing team within the time frame given.
Again, all detailed rules will be posted within the week, so please save your questions until after those have been posted.
Entry into the LAN Championship will cost $20.00 per team (or $10.00 per person), and $25.00 for teams who sign up for the tournament the day of the championship who have not competed in the online season. Those teams will be seeded below everyone else who has competed up to that point. All money received the day of the championship will be used for prize money, and a percentage of the League entry fee's for the online season will be used for prize money as well.
We plan on hosting a mid-season LAN where everyone can compete against each other. Stats will not be taken from the mid-season LAN. It's more of a fun environment where people can get hands on practice, in a LAN environment, and play scrimmage matches.
That is a very general explanation of what to expect for Season 1. As stated above, I will be posted a much more detailed explanation of the rules.
We are extremely excited to get this started. No one else in Utah is offering this, and we take great pride in becoming Utah's "go-to" for competitive gaming! You will soon see our new logo, and site. We are pretty stoked with the draft designs that are being sent to us, and know that you will love the final design!
Be sure to follow us on Twitter (@TheHiveGL), and soon on Facebook for updates, as we will likely post there first before we update the site. Stay tuned for more details!
