| Ladies and Gentlemen, The Mantis. |
Halo has always been known for it's vehicles, and recently, 343 put a cherry on top of the upcoming Halo 4 multiplayer by introducing the mech-warrior known as "The Mantis". A player is able to roam the battlefield inside this incredible beast, acting as the new threat. The trailer below clearly shows that the banshee, and warthog will no longer reign supreme, but I have a feeling that it being slower than either of them will make them easy targets for well placed rockets, and other power weapons.
Any opposing player is able to sneak up behind the Mantis and lob a grenade inside of the cockpit destroying the entire machine. On paper I think a skilled player could lay into a Mantis with it's high-speed plasma guns, while staying on the mantis' backside. But as the trailer shows, the ghost is also no match for the mantis' ground stomp from up close.
All in all I think adding the Mantis to Halo's already huge multiplayer is a good move, and will add a completely different way to play Halo. I definitely can't wait to jump into the cockpit of this incredible machine!
