Android, (iPod/iPad/iPhone upcoming)
Free-to-Play
Heroes Call is a free Android (coming soon to iPod Touch, iPad, and iPhone) adventure game with a decent RPG element. The player is able to choose from one free hero, and can pay U.S $1.99 each for up to three other heroes. Think of it as a Diablo type game, but on a much smaller and a little more repetitive scale. E.G. Most of the dungeons look the same, even though they are titled different.
There are a few enemies such as orcs, zombies, and skeletons to fight, and all the player needs to do is tap where to hit. After leveling up, with a decent ability tree I might add, the player has the ability to become much more deadly in battle. As the player levels up, so do the enemies; base orcs become stronger, and begin to show more magical powers and long ranged abilities. The player is able to pick up items from fallen enemies, broken barrels, and treasure chests. If the player picks up a rare, and powerful item, such as a sword, helmet, shield, shin guards, or chest piece, then they can swap their old items for the new. Once a quest is complete, the player is taken to a screen where he can do things like sell items to a blacksmith, and have an appraiser look at rare items that have an unknown value and put a price to them.
This game comes with the ability to track friends progress on Facebook by linking their profile to the game, and adds a "scoreboard" experience. Overall, this game is actually pretty addicting for a small scale action/adventure/rpg mobile game. Last but not least, the music is very well done, and I am impressed with how good it sounds, and how much was put into this game with it being free-to-play. I give Heroes Call a 4 out of 5 stars.
Until next time, keep on gamin' on!
